The pinnacle of professional Counter-Strike is officially returning to the United States. Intel® Extreme Masters (IEM) will make its highly anticipated return to American soil in 2027, serving as a marquee stop in the $11.45 million ESL Pro Tour. While the host city is still to be announced, the schedule and competitive format have been locked in.
The Road to the Trophy
The tournament will feature 16 of the world’s best teams competing in an intense, in-person LAN environment. The structure is designed to separate the contenders from the champions:
- Group Stage: Two groups of eight teams will compete in a double-elimination format. The top four teams from each group will advance to the playoffs.
- Playoffs: An eight-team bracket played in front of a live arena audience. The schedule kicks off on Friday with Quarter-Finals, moves to Semi-Finals on Saturday, and culminates in the Third-Place Decider and the Grand Final on Sunday.
Prize Pool and Club Incentives
With $1,000,000 on the line, the stakes are exceptionally high. ESL has also integrated an Annual Club Incentive for 2027, which factors in total tournament viewership to determine final points distribution, rewarding organizations that drive engagement across the entire week.
| Placement | Prize Money | Club Reward |
| 1st | $125,000 | $170,000 |
| 2nd | $50,000 | $120,000 |
| 3rd | $30,000 | $95,000 |
| 4th | $20,000 | $75,000 |

Qualification and Invites
The field will be determined by the VRS (Valve Ranking System) rankings from early 2027:
- Invites: Eight teams will be invited based on the January 2027 VRS publication.
- Regional Seeds: Specific slots are reserved for the top North American and South American teams.
- Qualifiers: Three additional spots will be determined via Global and Americas Closed Qualifiers.
