“We tried something new by blending PvE extraction and looter shooter mechanics with co-op gameplay, aiming to create a unique experience set in a gritty cyberpunk future. Usually, extraction shooters are focused on PvP, which makes the whole experience less approachable for many people. We wanted single-player and co-op fans to experience the thrill and high-octane action of a full loot-permadeath extraction shooter without the stress of PvP components. That doesn’t mean Shell Runner is easy. On the contrary, we aimed to stay true to the genre, making Shell Runner immersive and challenging. You’ll have to make tough decisions at every turn, whether it’s prioritizing loot, rescuing your buddy, pushing to complete the mission, or retreating to fight another day.”
