What if you could battle alongside your own game character? That’s the wild premise behind Glitchers, an indie hack-and-slash with a twist. Launching its demo during Steam Next Fest this October, the game fuses fast-paced combat with a unique puzzle mechanic that lets you “hack” the game to unleash powerful combos.
You can play the demo and wishlist the game on its Steam page.
Players step into the shoes of Trix, a girl trapped inside her favorite video game. Her mission: survive the world’s glitches, track down a legendary armor set, and stop a vengeful villain who wants to turn every warrior—including Trix—into scrap.
A Chaotic, Surreal World
Glitchers doesn’t play by the rules. Orcs and dwarves share space with jagged, low-poly environments that constantly glitch, while Trix—drawn in a rounded, organic style—sticks out as if she doesn’t belong. The effect is equal parts disorienting and hilarious.
The soundtrack adds to the surreal vibe, mixing electronic club beats with medieval melodies, as though a nightclub portal exploded into the 14th century. It’s chaotic, it’s absurd—and it works.
Packed With Action and Puzzles
The game spans nine levels, each packed with quirky enemies, clever puzzles, and glitch-fueled madness. Features include:
- Hack-and-slash combat enhanced by puzzle-based hacking mechanics
- Play as Trix, a gamer trapped in a glitchy digital world
- Unique art direction with sharp, jagged visuals contrasting Trix’s smoother design
- Soundtrack fusion of electronic and medieval music
- Award-winning indie title, already recognized at Gamescom, GDC, XL Courage, and PocketGamer Connects
Glitchers has already taken home the Audience Choice Award in the BIG Indie Zone, and it’s now gearing up to reach a wider audience through Steam Next Fest.
