Nintendo has officially announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 has become its fastest-selling console of all time, with over 3.5 million units sold globally in just the first four days following its June 5 launch.
The new system combines upgraded hardware, innovative features, and a strong launch lineup to deliver an exciting new era for Nintendo fans around the world.
A Leap Forward in Hardware and Connectivity
Nintendo Switch 2 boasts:
- A larger, vivid screen with 1080p handheld resolution and 4K output when docked.
- A faster processor, enabling enhanced graphics and smoother gameplay.
- All-new Joy-Con 2 controllers with magnetic attachment and mouse-style precision.
- A built-in GameChat feature, allowing voice/video chat and real-time screen sharing, giving players the feeling of playing side-by-side—even from miles away.
Takuro Horie, Managing Director of Nintendo Australia had this to say:
“In addition to upgraded features, Nintendo Switch 2 offers new ways for people to connect and play together. We are grateful for the response it has already received, and we hope players will continue to enjoy the new experiences offered.”

A Strong Start with Mario Kart World and More
Launching alongside the console was Mario Kart World, the most ambitious entry in the franchise yet. Featuring a seamless, interconnected world, dynamic weather, and support for up to 24 racers, it’s a bold new direction for the beloved racing series.
Looking ahead, Donkey Kong Bananza, a brand-new 3D platformer, swings onto the Switch 2 on July 17. This explosive action-adventure invites players to embrace chaos as they stomp, smash, and swing their way through vibrant jungle worlds and urban stages.
