Get ready to return to the streets of New York. Capcom has officially announced that Alex will join the Street Fighter 6 roster on March 17. Known for his massive frame and devastating grappling, the protagonist of Street Fighter III: New Generation is ready to show the world why he is the undisputed champion.
Alex brings a mix of brute strength and professional wrestling flair to the current lineup. Whether you are a legacy fan or a newcomer, his updated moveset offers plenty of reasons to get excited.
The Return of the New York Native
Alex first debuted in 1997. Raised by his mentor Tom, he has spent years honing his skills in street fights and professional wrestling rings. In Street Fighter 6, Alex is a pro wrestler looking for his next big challenge.
One of the biggest changes for this iteration is his control scheme. Alex is no longer a “charge character.” This makes him more accessible and allows for a faster, more aggressive playstyle.
New Specials and Motion Inputs
Capcom has updated Alex’s iconic moves for the modern era. He now uses fireball inputs for his signature strikes.
- Flash Axe: Performed with a light or medium punch input. The light version is safe on block, while the medium version lets you transition into his new stance.
- Flash Chop: Performed with a heavy punch. This move turns the opponent around, leaving them wide open for a Power Bomb or Oblique Stomp.
- Aerial Knee Smash: A reliable anti-air tool. The heavy version can even hit standing opponents, making it versatile in combos.

Master the Prowler Stance
The most significant addition to Alex’s kit is the Prowler Stance. While Alex cannot block in this stance, it grants him access to 11 different follow-up options.
This stance is designed to keep opponents guessing. You can use the Heavy Lariat for armored protection or the Tactical Hop to launch aerial attacks. If you land specific throws from this stance as a Punish Counter, they transition into high-damage finishers like the Spiral DDT and Death Valley Bomb.
Super Arts and the Kenny Omega Connection
Alex’s Super Arts are designed to bring the crowd to their feet.
- Level 1: Raging Spear – A strike-invincible tackle that works perfectly in combos.
- Level 2: Sledgecross Hammer – A devastating lariat that can wall splat airborne foes.
- Level 3: The Final Prison – A cinematic grappling sequence that chokes out the competition.
Capcom also revealed a secret! Alex has a second Level 2 Super Art called the Omega Wing Buster. This move features motion capture performed by wrestling superstar Kenny Omega.
Signature Grapples and Power Bombs
It wouldn’t be Alex without his legendary grappling. His Power Bomb remains a staple. The light version offers the best range, while the heavy version is the fastest.
If you catch an opponent from behind—often after a Flash Chop—the move becomes a Power Drop. For those using the OD version, you can even transition into a Hyper Bomb to maximize damage and choose which side of the screen you land on.
Customization and Music
Fans of the classics will be happy to know that Outfit 2 is inspired by Alex’s original Street Fighter III look, complete with green pants and his red bandana. You can unlock this using Fighter Coins or by building your bond with him in World Tour mode.
The hype is further fueled by a new theme song. The legendary anime song band JAM Project has composed “GO! ALEX! Hope is Born!” specifically for this release.
Mark your calendars for March 17. As the announcement says: “On March 17, your winner will be the Man with no Allies, ALEEEEX! Ready to get thrown around? Goodbye and goodnight!”
