PAX Aus is back this October, and the show has locked in an impressive guest list headlined by Gavin Verhey, Principal Designer for Magic: The Gathering. Verhey will take the stage as this year’s Storytime keynote speaker, bringing his passion for card design and storytelling to Australia’s biggest gaming convention.
For Verhey, it’s a dream come true — literally. At 11 years old, he wanted nothing more than to design Magic cards, and now he leads the creation of sets like Battlebond, Commander Legends, and the recently announced Magic: The Gathering FINAL FANTASY. When he’s not building sets, Verhey connects with fans worldwide through events and his popular YouTube series Good Morning Magic.
Star-Studded Lineup Beyond Magic
Verhey isn’t the only major name heading to Melbourne this year. PAX Aus 2025 will also feature:
- Josh Sawyer (Obsidian Entertainment) – The creative mind behind Pentiment, Fallout: New Vegas, and Pillars of Eternity, known for his meticulous RPG design and world-building.
- Joshua Mills (Ubisoft Montreal) – Game Director for Rainbow Six Siege, who will reflect on ten years of Siege during a fireside chat. His visit coincides with the Asia-Pacific League 2025 Major Qualifier, which will stream live from the PAX Arena.
- Lis Moberly (Disney’s 20th Century Games) – Narrative designer and creative lead with credits on Avowed, Cursed to Golf, and We Went Back. She’ll also share insights on burnout and feedback culture in game development.
- Jenny Windom (Geeks & Grounds, Wholesome Games) – A leader in inclusive and community-focused gaming, known for her uplifting approach to games media and production.
- Good Games Morley Creators – Riley, Aaron, Ricky, and Violet bring their tabletop comedy to the stage with a live Magic: The Gathering showdown against After Hours, plus a fan meet & greet.

They’ll join an already stacked roster including Amelia Tyler, Luke Dale, Ify Nwadiwe, and more.
