Shadow and Light Collide: Thresh and Senna Join the 2XKO Roster

Published on

Riot Games has officially expanded the roster of its highly anticipated 2v2 tag-team fighter, 2XKO, with the addition of two of League of Legends’ most iconic rivals: the Chain Warden, Thresh, and the Redeemer, Senna. The duo is set to join the fight on June 9, 2026, bringing their bitter history—and highly distinct playstyles—to the battlefield.

What is 2XKO?

For those new to the arena, 2XKO is a free-to-play fighting game developed by Riot Games, set within the rich universe of Runeterra. The game focuses on explosive 2v2 tag-team combat, where players can either go solo to control both champions on their team or partner with a friend for true cooperative play. With a roster of familiar faces reimagined for the fighting game genre, 2XKO emphasizes strategic depth, unique tag mechanics, and high-octane action.

Senna: The Hybrid Redeemer

Senna enters 2XKO as a versatile “hybrid” character who excels at both zoning and aggressive rushdown tactics. Her kit is designed around her Relic Cannon, allowing her to control space with long-range blasts before shifting into her darker, spectral form.

  • Playstyle: In her base form, Senna acts as a patient zoner. However, by utilizing her “Wraith Meter,” she can enter her Wraith form, trading ranged safety for overwhelming mobility, multi-directional air dashes, and devastating close-range mix-ups.
  • The Power of Light and Dark: Her gameplay reflects her lore—a Sentinel of Light who spent years trapped within Thresh’s lantern, eventually learning to bend the very Black Mist that held her captive to her will.

Thresh: The Master of Strategy

Thresh brings a completely new archetype to the game: the Strategist. True to his nature as a tormentor, Thresh is a technical, control-focused character built around manipulating positioning and setting traps.

  • Playstyle: Thresh excels at controlling the flow of the match. His signature hook mechanics allow him to yank opponents toward him or warp himself into position.
  • The Lantern Mechanic: His most unique tool is his lantern. Beyond just being a thematic nod to his League roots, the lantern acts as a persistent threat on the screen, allowing him to spawn spirits or teleport, forcing opponents to play around his setup rather than simply reacting to his attacks.

A Rivalry Brought to the Ring

The release of these two characters side-by-side is a treat for lore enthusiasts. Their rivalry—one of the most famous in Runeterra—adds a layer of narrative tension to every match-up between them. Riot has confirmed that both characters will be tournament-legal for the upcoming 2XKO EVO 2026 in Las Vegas, giving pros and fans alike a chance to see just how these two polar opposites hold up in competitive play.

With Thresh and Senna joining the fray, the 2XKO roster grows to 15 champions. Whether you prefer the calculated, trap-heavy setups of the Chain Warden or the lightning-fast, adaptive offense of the Redeemer, there is a new challenge awaiting every player this June.

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the June 9th release. Are you ready to see who wins in the battle between Light and Mist?
